FRIDAYDeke Dickerson

Fri, Jan 22 · 8:45 PM · Pool Stage

Deke Dickerson& the Whippersnappers

A rock ’n’ roll lifer, guitar fanatic and walking encyclopedia of American roots music, Deke Dickerson has spent decades jumping between rockabilly, surf, garage rock, hillbilly boogie and vintage country. From the legendary garage rockers the Untamed Youth and the hillbilly swing of the Dave and Deke Combo to the Ecco-Fonics, the Go-Nuts, Venturesmania! and his collaborations with the Trashmen, Deke has never been content to stick to one sound. A guitarist, songwriter, producer and music historian, he’s shared the stage with guitar greats and documented the history of American roots music in print. Now, backed by the Whippersnappers, Deke is firing on all cylinders with sharp suits, slapping bass and a high octane blend of rockabilly and honky tonk built for the dance floor.

SATURDAYJoey Simeone

Sat, Jan 23 · 8:45 PM · Pool Stage

Joey Simeoneof the Bellfuries

Frontman and chief songwriter of Austin’s beloved Bellfuries, Joey Simeone crafts rock ’n’ roll that sounds like it just escaped a 1958 jukebox. The band’s debut, Just Plain Lonesome, is a modern rockabilly classic, and JD McPherson brought Joey’s songwriting to a wider audience with his cover of “Your Love (All That I’m Missin’).” For this special performance, Joey revisits the Bellfuries songbook, delivering heartbroken ballads, Everly Brothers style harmonies and vintage rock ’n’ roll with a healthy dose of twang. A little heartbreak, a little honky tonk and a whole lot of rockabilly soul under the desert stars.
